Is there any answer to the reports by witnesses that demonstrators used the BART to leave the area after the protest fizzled out?

This is a good idea. It reminds me of Naomi Wolf's lecture on why protest in recent years has been overly permitized and thus ineffectual.

What about calling for foot patrols, either BART or OPD, who are not armed with lethal weaponry?

Hi Ann,

The demand is to abolish the BART police.

NJNB does not demand, nor would we, that OPD police BART stations, since we want to call into question the perverse assumption that we need a cop on every corner, and that cops are the best way to reduce violence in our communities.

But we understand that, in practice, it would probably entail OPD coming in: resisting this would be the next stage of the struggle, since we all know there's nothing about OPD that's better than BART PD (political oversight notwithstanding).

Is this a demand for no police on BART, or for the municipal police departments that BART operates in to police their stations?
