Piracy is a deplorable act. However, the news media invariably omits some important background information. Consider, since the collapse of the Somalia government in 1991, foreign trawlers and vessels have been overfishing Somali territorial waters and at the same time dumping toxic waste, including nuclear waste, into its waters. These foreign vessels are from all of southern Europe, France, Spain, Greece, the United Kingdom, Russia, China, and Norway. Somalia has become a free-for-all coast for dumping toxic waste. Somalia complained to the United Nations and the European Union, but were ignored. Who is going to listen to a poor, unstable African country? Somalia tried to chase these fishing "pirates" away, but they returned with navy escorts.

With the loss of their livelihood, many of these fishermen turned to piracy. Perhaps, the United Nations and the world should reexamine Somali complaints. (Published in fogcityjournal.com)

I just read the following article, on Indybay Indymedia, about the unsustainable, industrial over- fishing of the world's oceans, and, of course it made me think of the Euro Mafia over-fishing Somali waters, so I returned to leave this link about what a global, not just Somalian, but global crisis this is:

We have to stop eating the oceans
http://www.indybay.org/newsitems/2009/04/10/18587438.php

I would make an exception, of course, for traditional fishing cultures, if the industrial ocean rapists leave anything that might once again sustain them, sustainably.

Just as African land is being planted in bio-fuels to power all our stupid little cars, when it should be planted in food, for Africans, Africa's coastal waters are being fished out to feed European and American cats and dogs.

The trial of this skinny---very skinny, too skinny---16-yr.-old boy, as an adult and a criminal, in this country, is a grotesque travesty of justice.

27 April 2009

You know Elmo - I could refer you to the SF Bay View's in depth coverage of the situation in Somalia and ask that you re-read the articles so that you could answer your question yourself - or better yet, not ask such a foolish question in the first place.

My sense is however, that this would be an act of futility.

Additionally, unless you're a U.S. conglomerate, you do not have a million dollars, so even if I were inclined to hold a gun to your head, (which I'm not) it would be a waste of my time if the end result were to be the procurement of funds.

Therefore, I would advise you not to go on vacation in an 18 foot life boat or anything else that floats, anytime soon.

If you do, you will probably discover that you have more to fear from high tech French and / or U.S. Navy personnel trying to rescue you while plotting to invade Somalia than you would from scantily armed and starving Somalians repelling said violent incursions.

However, if you just really want a military adventure to warm the cockles of your heart, jump your a** into the next Black Hawk or Huey or whatever helicopters patrolling over Somalia.

Who knows, maybe you'll get in on another elite U.S. Ranger Delta Force extravaganza involving U.S. sanctioned attempts at kidnapping, murder, and regime change - occupation of an AFRIKAN country by violent means, and become part of another movie so tasteless, tactless, and frought with mistakes - up to and including the fact that the helicopters that were downed were rumored to have been Hueys, not Black Hawks, that you'll make your own million dollars, be rich and famous, and then will be able to hire someone to hold a gun to your head and give you all the cheap thrills that you deserve.

And then you won't have to read a thing.

Because by then, it won't matter.

Lets see, hold a gun to my head and threatan to kill me unless I give you a million dollars. Sounds like a peacefull protest over toxic dumping. Why are the pirates not demanding the end to toxic dumping?

25 April 2009

Black Hawk Down, Revisited?

It is interesting how an allegedly dispassionate and objective 'international community' is obscuring the reasons for the alleged Somali 'piracies,' behind devolving arguments as to one captured Somali teenager's age.

Procuring the necessary funds from the perpetrators of decades of European and Asian toxic waste dumping off the shores of Somalia and using said monies to rebuild the people and the land would make sense to most rational, thinking people, whether those procuring the funds were 15 or 50.

But rather than to discuss a horrific grievance, and to note that none of these alleged to be savage pirates have ever killed any of the passengers aboard the alleged to have been pirated vessels, the corporate media heads go on and on about the necessity to use brute force to prevent violence.

In reality, all they're doing is attempting to kill - literally - two birds with one stone: protecting their investments in toxic waste dumping and creating a killing field around an Afrikan country.

Thus was it deemed necessary to deploy a highly trained, armed to the teeth Navy Seal team to board an 18 foot life boat held by alleged to be savage, barely teen-aged, (and barely armed) 'pirates' and to start U.S. helicopter runs over a Somalian port city.

Though no one wants to admit it, this U.S./EU/NATO/UN 'war on Somali piracy' is probably a revenge move against Somalians who had the temerity to shoot down two fully armed U.S. Blackhawk helicopters while throwing out a U.S. instigated Ethiopian invasion of Somalia in 1993.

The interests of incipient Obama-Drama are being served, reminiscent of GWB Jr. & Sr.

Why am I not surprised?

This kind of mindless, muscle flexing, dick swinging, shock and awe, drama queen bulls**t from this country's government spans millennia in perpetuity; is a mindset of epic proportions, code named genocide, and spans territory globally, internal and external to U.S. shores, from city to city, coast to coast, and 'sea to shining sea.'

After all, do not rumors abound of a Riot and Tactical Operations Control team hidden in or around Parcel E of the old Naval shipyard in the Afrikan community that is Hunter's Point, in San Francisco?

And wasn't a tank sent to 'settle' a domestic violence dispute at 3rd and Palou also in Hunter's Point in 2007?

And remember how, in 1985 on the 13th of May the city of Philadelphia decided to evict MOVE members from 6221 Osage Avenue by dropping a bomb onto the roof of the house? The resulting disaster was that everyone but one adult and one child inside the house was killed, 61 houses in the surrounding neighborhood were destroyed, and eleven people - five of whom were children - were killed as well.

The city then completed the eviction process by pulling a Hurricane Katrina move and selling the property out from under the surviving family members.

In 2003, students arrived at City College of San Francisco to find a Hummer full of the latest Play Station and other games on the quad. It was guarded (?) by a member of the US Army infantry in full combat gear.

The used car sales pitch was the enticement of students to 'win' a Hummer by signing up to be all that they can be.

The age of prospective inductees didn't matter.

And recently, in 2009 in yet another stunning military Kodak moment, the U.S. Army

"... strapped pigs to Humvees and exploded each Humvee to ascertain the effects of the explosions on the pigs’ brains. Supposedly, the study was done to determine whether brain damage would occur to the driver of a Humvee if faced with an explosion and if so, to what degree. Perhaps rather unsurprisingly, the results of the experiment cemented what we already know—yes, explosions do indeed cause damage to the driver inside. It turns out the brain can sustain low-level damage before brain damage becomes permanent, and the degree of damage varies according to the individual (or pig)." (Pigs And Hummers: Is Exploding Bacon Science?

Age again, is not a factor.

Stupid is as stupid does. Somali so-called pirates are seemingly the only thing standing between the genocidal removal (via nuclear toxic waste) of the natural resources of an entire country.

But the outcome, unlike the bootlegging, rum running very un-Camelot like activities of the U.S. Kennedy clan, is not a Monopoly game for Somalians.

Nor is it likely to produce any Somali born U.S. presidents.

Somali teenagers, if caught - get dead or transported to secret U.S. prisons, go straight to jail, do not pass go, do not collect millions of dollars.

16 year old Abduwali Abdukhadir Muse is not the idiot here. He should be hailed as a hero for thwarting EU, NATO, UN and other western illegal schemes for as long as he did.

And smilingly, he seems to be among the few who know it.
