It's so disappointing that the Observer endorse Prop B. Prop B is a poorly written measure that is misleading in it's real effects. Even though it has been called pension reform over two-thirds of the money generated is from cutting people's healthcare! Teachers, nurses, custorians and gardners are going to see their family healthcare costs more than double if this passes. Over 17,000 city workers make less than $35K a year and this is going to force them to go to SF General for emergency care which will end up costing the tax payers even more.
Vote No on Prop B!
tThe next time your kid or cousin is arrested for pot you'll have only yourself to blame if you don't vote yes on 19.
The NAACP just released a report that says from 2006 to 2008, California African-Americans and Latinos were up to 12 times more likely to be arrested for marijuana possession than whites. In Los Angeles County, for instance, where blacks account for only 10 percent of the population, they accounted for 30 percent of those arrested for pot possession.
Stand up and vote yes on 19. Legalize it, tax it and control it. End the discrimination.
