Federal prisoner held beyond his release date

Prison-bars, Federal prisoner held beyond his release date, Abolition Now! The mother of a prisoner held in the Florence, Colo., AdMax wrote to Bay View columnist Kiilu Nyasha to say her son “is being held in illegal detention beyond his statutory release date. He was sentenced for a non-violent crime June 23, 1992, and was given 21 years and 10 months. His release date should have been on March 19, 2010.

“He is now being denied proper food, legal visits, law books and other materials to help himself,” writes Katherine Wilson about her son, Ken Kenyatta Wilson. She continues:

“Yes, I know we are not rich or famous but we are still God’s children. We are not perfect, but all of our family have served our country and did all we could for our children.

“I am a senior citizen and now our whole family need my son home. Please help! God is good!”

Mrs. Wilson enclosed a letter from her son, who writes: “ADX Florence and CIA agents are holding me in illegal detention beyond my Statutory Release Date Projection (SRDP) based upon an obviously false mathematical miscomputation from a data printout sheet dated as ‘April Fool’s Day.’

“Federal prisoners legally must serve 85 percent of their federal sentence. Federal prisoners legally receive 54 days Good Conduct Time (GCT) per year unless the GCT is disciplinarily revoked for misbehavior. For misbehavior, the 54-day GCT may be only revoked for one year per year.

“I was imprisoned June 23, 1992. I was sentenced to 21 years 10 months (262 months) imprisonment. The data printout sheet dated ‘April Fool’s Day’ depicts an award of 465 days GCT. I was supposed to have been released March 19, 2010. (Basic arithmetic: 85 percent of 21 years 10 months since June 23, 1992, plus 465 days GCT equals SADP March 19, 2010.)

“ADX Florence and CIA agents are denying me law books, legal calls, legal copies, legal envelopes, legal visits and postage stamps.”
