Terry’s work has broken barriers for female writers, for her earlier blockbuster, “Waiting to Exhale,” is not only a million selling book, about four working class Black women trying the survive in a unloving world called life, but the success of this book allowed Terry to became a screenwriter for two of the most successful films of the 1990s when “Waiting to Exhale” and “How Stella Got Her Groove Back” were turned into major motion pictures that broke box office records in mainstream Hollywood.
The author showed her appeal has not wavered over the years as male and female fans of all races waited to capture a glimpse of the screenwriting sensation. “Getting to Happy” is the sequel to “Waiting to Exhale,” catching up with the four women in “Exhale” 15 years later. “Getting to Happy” is a phenomenal read for anyone looking for a happy place – or just the right groove.
