Become a star at Black Rep’s Theatrical Day Camp

June 8, 2011

“We pride ourselves on developing young stars who have little experience to none at all.” – Director Sean Vaughn Scott

At the Black Repertory Group Theater in Berkeley, the crowd awaits the young stars who will walk the red carpet.
In Berkeley at the Black Repertory Group’s summer day camp, youth are instructed by our own professional theatrical performance staff. We also hand pick other professional performers to work with our youth. Our staff instruct in the arts as well as provide and monitor lunch and snack periods. Thousands attend our summer productions to see the children and youth perform.

The dynamic Ms. Faye Carol teaches her Music In The Community (MITC) at the Black Repertory Group (BRG) this summer. Ms. Faye is a Bay Area icon who, as a jazz and blues recording artist, receives international recognition. We are proud to announce our 11th consecutive year of the MITC-Black Rep Summer Day Camp of the Arts, where youth receive training in voice and singing as well as the history of African American music.

Famous Black Rep alumni who are already well known in film and on stage will be returning on several occasions during the summer.

At the Black Rep summer camp, young performers learn, practice and show off their talent.
Come enjoy the great work here on stage. From the everyday performance schedule to excited family members to news media there is an artistic storm at our theater every summer. We encourage you to enroll your youth and expose them to the experience on our stage and the electricity in the air during our summers here.

Here’s how it works

The summer day camp runs from June 20 through Aug. 16, 2011. Two weeks are spent in preparation, the | remaining weeks in performance.

A lot of learning goes on at the Black Rep summer camp.
Regular camp hours are 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Early drop-off is 7-9 a.m., late pick-up 3-6 p.m.

Cost ranges from $250-$750 for the entire program, with additional charges for early drop-off and late pick-up. Lunch and snacks are included in the cost.

We are also offering free lunch on site in conjunction with the City Of Berkeley. Come and enjoy lunch after the 10 a.m. show or before the 1 p.m. show throughout the summer camp. Come see a show and lunch is on us!
