I found this post after looking at the list of post offices threatened with closure on the USPS website. I was alarmed to see that the San Francisco list consisted of Bayview, McLaren, Visatacion, the PO Box unit at Civic Center, and the Federal Building. It is as if they targeted the neighborhoods where residents are the most reliant on postal services and are the least able to travel further to reach alternate locations. If we truly cannot afford the current number of post offices in our city, we need to come up with a fair way to distribute any necessary closures geographically, rather than shuttering all the offices in an entire section of the city while maintaining the status quo elsewhere.
