Its a shame that the western press keep mute over the atrocities some of our leaders commit looting our treasuries so long as such looted funds benefit their economies. But we too are usually accomplices. A case in point is the war the Western world is waging against Prof Laurent Gbagbo of Ivory Coast. Nobody has paused to ask the question why the entire Western nations and their institutions such as the world bank, the IMF and the UN are so quick at condemnation and imposition of sanctions even without persuasion. Nobody is asking any question about the rebels in the North of that country that refused the supervision of the so called election by the nation’s authorities. Nobody is taking into consideration the constitution and sovereignty of Ivory Coast, or the adjudication of that country’s highest constitutional court (Supreme Court) other than that the Chief Judge is a Gbagbo ally, forgetting that the Head of the Electoral body that declared the initial result is a Quatarra nominated ally also. The issue on trial is President Gbagbo’s refusal to yield to imperialist demands over the control of cocoa of which Ivory coast is the world’s greatest producer. Alhassan Quatarra is a Western stooge bred at the Brenton Wood institutions and deployed to unseat Laurent Gbagbo after the death of Hophuet Boigny to resume business as usual. Why would the French Contingent remain on the soil of Ivory Coast without the consent of the host country? Why would the UN troop remain in Ivory Coast without the approval or request of the host government? Why are these troops not in Somalia or Sudan? Who is deceiving who? If all the loot stashed in western financial institutions are repatriated to Africa, there will be a significant improvement in the standard of living of the average African. In a situation where our embassies cannot pay their rents , there are acres of estates and parks and choice properties wasting away in Europe and the Americas belonging to African despots. Its a shame!

Sir, the truth, they say, is always bitter but it must be told as that is the only thing that set us free. The piece on “Hiding Africa’s Looted Funds : The silence of the western media” is a master-piece. You completely hit nail on the head. How I wish patriotic citizens of the world in general and Africa in particular will take this serious issue up and place the lives of poor African children on a better future. Because no matter what the West do, the negative impact of their activities in Africa will continue to put the whole world at risk, just as we have continued to witness. Thanks once again for the award-winning write-up.

BBC is especiially guilty of this crime of under-reporting. What do you expect? Their fore-fathers underdeveloped Africa and passed on the baton to them. Any keen obserser will know how wharped and jaundiced BBC has been in its broadcast. I am of one of those who believe so strongly, that BBC instigated the progrom that was the aftermath of the Kenyan elections. Just cast your mind back to all that BBC used the Africans in their midst to do and you’ll understand. BBC will die to report protests around the African continent but cleverly, though mischievously, play down those ones that have characterised Cameron’s Prime Ministership in the UK. Sheer hypocrites!
