This goes to show the power of the media, it shapes opinions, draws lines and makes converts. They attempted to dismiss the revolutionary symbolic gestures of Smith and Carlos. But history has proven that these acts were powerful demonstrations of the soul of Black folks . Today at SJSU there are statues representing the gallant act of theser 2 soldiers and let us not forget the Australian Peter Norman, who stood in solidariry with them . He was ostracized in his country and not even given recognition when they hosted the Olympic games, a travesty and a shameful shadow cast on that racist continent. Peter Norman died in obcurity but he has been revised in the spirit of those who stood for justice in annals of freedom row. John Caslos and Tommy Smithi were pallbearers at his funeral. He has been honored today as a soldier who stood for justice and scoffed at the sick beast of disdain who bleeds good people and strangles their dreams.
