Amerikkka and the conservative bigwigs want to PRIVATIZE the school so that they can choose who gets in, what classes will be offered, when this will all take place and how it is to come about. If they are able to do that, people like me – homeless, poor, poverty-stricken single mother – will not have a ghost of a chance to better ourselves. On Aug. 8, 1978, the Move Organization’s headquarters was attacked in a pre-dawn raid by several hundred Philadelphia cops and officials. Move members were charged for the assault and are still languishing in prison. The issue is not what the parole board will “decide”; the real issue is what the people will allow.

Waging and winning the cultural revolution means throwing off oppression by convincing the people that the interests of the ruling 1% are opposite, not identical to those of the 99%. The reassertion of the cultural revolution is necessary if the movement is to realize actual success and not become just another footnote in the crushed movements of American history.

In that same spirit of stubborn resistance that the Occupy Movement is showing, we here in Pelican Bay State Prison who initiated a hunger strike were protesting the torturous and inhumane conditions of these isolation units in U.S. prisons. I want to stress that our struggle is not over – not by a long shot.

The reduction of 35,000-40,000 prisoners equals a potential loss of $2 billion in the yearly CDCR budget and 7,000 CCPOA members. The “security threat group” (STG) scheme enables CDCR to segregate a lot more men. Segregation costs nearly double general population and requires more staff.

On Thursday, Nov. 10, Occupy Oakland was supposed to celebrate its one-month anniversary in the renamed Oscar Grant Plaza in front of City Hall. Instead the Occupy Movement worldwide was shaken by the cold-blooded murder of a participant less than an hour before festivities were scheduled to start.

Mrs. Bowie said she had been attacked by a white supremacist faction of Occupiers and then subsequently attacked by the police. I asked if there had been white power issues at the camp and was met by a reluctance to broach the topic that was echoed by the next half dozen people I would speak to. A few made silent or cryptic affirmations that this phenomenon was occurring.

On Oct. 16-17, SFPD conducted a brutal raid on the Occupy San Francisco encampment. Videographers recorded police stepping on backs, dragging protestors and striking them with batons. Before police dispersed, tents reappeared. San Francisco occupiers joined the October 22nd Coalition to Stop Police Brutality in a short Bayview march protesting unrelenting police assaults on residents.

Last Thursday morning, Oct. 13, in the rain at jam-packed Zuccotti Park/Liberty Plaza in the financial district of New York, it was cleanup time by the occupiers. For the cops it was a low-profile day, but I counted 26 officers in uniform – 23 blue- and three white-shirted – scattered around the perimeter in twos and threes plus seven undercover men, presumably FBI/CIA, in suits.
