Absence a response by the local health officer or designee moves Dr. Ahimsa Porter Sumchai to declare a Local Health Emergency under Section 101080 of the California Health and Safety Code at Naval Stations Hunters Point and Treasure Island.

The injustice continues with Ahimsa Porter Sumchai’s ongoing exposure of the relentless suffering and death attacking the residents of Bayview Hunters Point – the result of the U.S. Navy’s poisoning the land with no cleanup or accountability, handing it off to profiteering developers, years of government and corporate corruption and greed, and crimes against humanity, culminating in three federal Superfund sites now confirmed.

A perception shift is emerging due to deliberate indifference perpetrated upon citizens by those in power, which this country has witnessed in the criminal behavior in the Flint Michigan Water Crisis. Whereas ignorance and propaganda by those in power convinced citizens that those behind bars are “the worst of the worst,” we are learning that this narrative has been a tactic to distract and the truth is that the “worst of the worst” are more frequently those we entrust to protect our health and wellbeing.

We will fight this attempted toxic genocide! So say Bayview Hunters Point residents, once again, clearly stating they will not accept the radiated, toxic grounds of their community, bearing the pain of years of deliberate indifference, lies, deceits and government and corporate shenanigans resulting in egregious harm and suffering to families’ lives.

Deep grief mingles with pure pain and rage at the preventable death of beloved Dr. Susan Moore as the hospital allowing the death of Dr. Moore released a statement that only acknowledged lapses in courtesy and their plan to address such with “trainings” – what we correctly know as code for ‘business as usual’ – dismissed.

Called the most contaminated site in the United States and despite a moratorium on further condo construction on Parcel A, the only part of the shipyard approved for development, the massive excavation project pictured here is currently occurring at the perimeter of the Parcel E-2 landfill. Reinstating the Restoration Advisory Board (RAB) would require the Navy and EPA to explain why they are allowing this dangerous project to occur.

Marie Harrison was a member of the Huntersview Mothers’ Committee on May 15, 2006, when the turbines of the 70-year-old PG&E Hunters Point Power Plant, located at 1000 Evans Ave. at the base of the Hunters Point hilltop, shut down … for good! Ten days after putting into service the Jefferson Martin Transmission Line, Pacific Gas and Electric Co. kept the promise it made in 1998 to shutter the dilapidated natural gas-fired plant after replacing the 400 megawatts of backup power the power plant supplied.
