‘Celeste Guap’ sent to ‘rehab,’ then jailed in Florida, as Oakland PD fires, suspends a dozen cops

Since May 2016, citizens of the Bay Area have been shocked and appalled by revelations of abuse of power by police officers in six different law enforcement agencies. The central figure caught in the eye of the storm is a teenage girl, who says that she has lived in the Bay Area’s commercial sexual exploitation marketplace since she was 12. This photo is who she really is and how she looked when she was just 13 years old.

Patrick Xu of the Land Action 4 speaks on their case, human rights and squatter movements locally and internationally

The Land Action 4 are four people who were arrested after actively reclaiming neglected property. I was made aware of this case by housing activist Tim Killings, who organizes around housing rights in Oakland. I conversed with one of the members of the Land Action 4, Patrick Xu, about their case, their beliefs, human rights and the history of reclaiming property internationally. DA moving ahead with charges in BART shooting protests

While charges have been dropped for many of those arrested in recent Oakland protests over the BART police shooting of Oscar Grant, the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office is moving forward with six or seven cases, at least three of them felonies.
