The Better Utilizing Investments to Leverage Development and Generating Renewable Energy to Electrify the Nation’s (Build Green) Infrastructure and Jobs Act is presented to deliver the transformational change demanded by the American people while ensuring that we build the green economy of the 21st century here at home with good-paying, union jobs.

Will Struggle for Greed – No More! The Tax Excessive CEO Pay Act introduced on March 24, 2021 is built to close the obscene gap between greedy CEOs and the workers who make it possible, to tax corporations a fair share, with tax penalties against CEO/median worker ratio excesses, and the Treasury Department required to issue regulations to prevent tax avoidance.

Bay View Voters Guide for March 3 Primary Election

Our best chance at a bright future is Bernie Sanders. We need the courage to vote for the best world possible, for the biggest dreams, for the biggest potential shift in government and politics.

Is Bernie Sanders electable?

Among the Democratic candidates for president, there is one person who speaks for the vast, long-suffering working class, the beating heart of America: Bernie Sanders.

Hillary busts Tulsiasha Gabbardskaya and Jillia Steinakanova: What could go wrong?

Those sympathetic to the allegation that Trump is a stooge of the Kremlin claim that the Russians sought to use social media to alienate voters against Hillary Clinton. But with $1 billion at his disposal, why couldn’t Clinton’s campaign advisor figure out how to use Clinton’s social media to win votes for her.

‘How I Lost by Hillary Clinton,’ a book review

“How I Lost by Hillary Clinton” is a collection of the DNC and Podesta emails published by Wikileaks in 2016, introduced and annotated by Consortium News Editor Joe Lauria, with a foreword by political prisoner Julian Assange. I had a hard time putting “How I Lost By Hillary Clinton” down until I was done. Like most Wikileaks releases, it drew me into the minds of those who decide who will live, who will die, who will be impoverished and who enriched.

On the Muppets show in the 1970s, Kermit the Frog sang, “It’s not easy being green.” It isn’t easy being a Green Party candidate. There are advantages and disadvantages. I was a Democrat until 2001, at age 50, I registered to vote with the Green Party. Greens value people, planet and peace over profit. Leaders in the Democratic Party do not. I am a candidate for Congress because San Francisco voters do not have an advocate for peace in Washington.

War, what is it good for?

War, what is it good for? Absolutely nothing. Edwin Star sang those lyrics in 1970 on his album War & Peace. The song “War” was No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for 15 weeks. In 1970, the U.S. was deeply involved in the Vietnam war. I was 19, prime age for feeding the war machine. The lyrics have influenced my life ever since. Massive spending on our military hasn’t resulted in peace. Instead, we have more war and terrorism. Funding peace-building and peace-keeping should be a top priority of every member of Congress.

U.S. budget priorities and healthcare

My column last month reported on the vote in the U.S. House of Representatives to support HR 2810, the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2018. The vote was 344 Yes and 81 No. Seventy-nine percent of our elected representatives in the House voted for “nearly $30 billion more for core Pentagon operations than President Trump requested,” according to the San Francisco Chronicle, July 15, 2017.

Palestine – the most compelling reason we need a Sanders victory...

The California Democratic Primary is Tuesday, June 7. Whatever “The Movement” means to you, if you care about human decency and international human rights, we need a Sanders victory and a Clinton repudiation in California on June 7 – and beyond. I admire and support Sen. Sanders for his courageous challenge to the American Israel Political Action Committee, his support for human rights and fair treatment for the Palestinian people, and his open challenge to Hillary Clinton on Israel and Palestine.

California Attorney General Kamala Harris must end the barbaric practice of...

California Attorney General Kamala Harris is nothing if not ambitious. Not content with being the Golden State’s top law enforcement officer – a position she has held since 2011, after serving seven years as San Francisco County’s district attorney – she’s currently running for the U.S. Senate and is the clear favorite to replace Barbara Boxer, who is retiring in November 2016. Harris must not miss this historic opportunity to end solitary confinement in California.
