Third Street at Jerrold Street is bustling with a new farmers market that launched May 5. Sponsored by the Merchants of Butchertown and Economic Development on Third (EDoT), the market is open from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. every Saturday at 1605 Jerrold (All Good Pizza). Bringing more fresh food options into Bayview Hunters Point was the goal of the market. Two local farms are anchoring the market with plans to add more as the growing season becomes abundant.

Well over the Memorial Day weekend we had three people shot by Bay Area police in two days. Three police shootings in two days is a lot. Ten police shootings in six months by two police departments is a lot. One doesn’t have to look to places like Texas, St. Louis or Louisiana or other Trump-loving states to see questionable police shootings. A lot is happening right here in the Bay Area.
I was introduced to Augusta Lee Collins at Dave Petrelli’s Twinspace in San Francisco where thespian Anita Woodley performed her “Mama Juggs” one woman play about 5 years ago. Since Anita Woodley worked closest with him, I thought it would be fitting to get her to talk about her colleague, musical comrade and friend, who transitioned after being hit by a car in Oakland. Here is Anita Woodley in her own words.
