
Adding to Kevin Gosztola’s recent coverage of the hunger strike at Pelican Bay prison … I want to look more closely at one of the prisoner’s demands, in particular their call for the abolition of the “debriefing process.”

The people of the state of California, by and through their draconian Three Strikes and You’re Out law, have achieved another very shameful in-custody death. On April 19, at approximately 1:20 p.m., Jeremiah Sheppard tragically died on a dirt exercise track at the Folsom State Prison.

There are those who fear this warrior for justice. They are afraid of the accountability that must be applied to the transgressors, no matter who they are.
