‘Tis the season for social ventures and elections. Accordingly, Kalioya Politrix LLC (KP), a local management consultancy based in the City’s southeast corridor, announces a new market focus to commence this fall: early-stage public benefit corporations and social entrepreneurs; nonprofits that support or incubate them; political action committees; or campaigns for candidates for election or voter initiatives.

As many of you know from experience, or have read before in these pages, the last decade has cut a deadly swath through Black prosperity and the viability of Black businesses in San Francisco. This is coupled with the flight of many of our neighbors, family members and friends out of the City. Yet we hang on, still determined to “make a way out of no way.” We remain, our children remain, and if we work hard enough, diligently enough, we can turn things around so that the next generation has a fighting chance.

The long journey to an equitable pathway for community workers and contractors at San Francisco Unified has seen great progress over the past year; and the same policy makers, community members, labor leaders and community contractors that brought us this far appear poised to carry a torch now held by many across the line between longstanding hope and a truly historic reality.
