Black August Memorial, Black August Resistance

by Shiva Bhairava

Black August Memorial (BAM) is a 31-day salute to New Afrikan Revolutionary Nationalists (NARN) who advanced and improved our struggle for New Afrikan liberation. BAM is important to me because we get the honor of uniting with the NARN. We get a chance to prove our level of endurance, dedication and commitment in struggling in the way of first-rate freedom fighters and we should take advantage of the opportunity given.

Black August is a return to our Afrikan personality. It is a breaking of the chains which keep us from experiencing true freedom. Weusi Agosti (Black August) is the total purification of the mind, body and soul.

Four days of resistance, Aug. 1, 7, 13 and 21, sometimes called FLEA days, are 24-hour fasts in which we work out four times during that day and only take six cups of water. [George Jackson did a thousand fingertip pushups every day. – ed.] This boosts our revolutionary consciousness and gives us an undying awareness of our self-sacrifice. We over-stand our ideology as the most concrete to our situation in America, this being New Afrikan Revolutionary Nationalism, which is, in fact, anti-colonialism and anti-imperialism.

During the non-FLEA days, we fast from sunrise till sunset. During our honorary month of Black August, our free mind, our revolutionary mind, is deeply re-structured in such a manner that we maximize all effort in the struggle.

I encourage all our people to participate in BAM, as well as to struggle in the feeling of Black August Resistance, which is the true spirit of our ancestors’ struggle. Just imagine the feeling of waking up every day, knowing that we are righteously and selflessly serving in the spirit of Gabriel Prosser, Denmark Vesey, Nat Turner, David Walker and the Honorable Marcus Garvey.

This is Black August Resistance (BAR). BAR is a 365-day struggle. It is a personal transformation as well.

The FLEA days bring out our true human qualities, such as selfless service, self-sacrifice, true love and bravery. Black August is ultimately an expansion of consciousness and an opportunity to take part in our New Afrikan historical struggle.

I have become whole through this feeling and have completely united with the legendary New Afrikan Revolutionary Nationalist Freedom Fighters. BAM gives us a New Afrikan pride and ethos that gives unlimited fruit. As we salute and honor our NARN – New Afrikan Revolutionary Nationalists – we become NARN.

A NARN is a total and ultimate revolutionary. Many complex and supremely logical and intelligent features constitute BAM and BAR and New Afrikan Revolutionary Nationalism. I appreciate the opportunity to struggle for a righteous cause, to become the ultimate revolutionary via NARN tools.

This initiative has given me the discipline to do what must be done, by whatever means necessary. I encourage all our people to investigate the details of this ideal that is the ultimate transformation and the proof of one’s commitment to our New Afrikan independence movement.
