Incarceration, especially in solitary confinement, with no contact visits allowed, tears family bonds, breaking the hearts of children and parents. Bills like Delaware’s SB188 can reunite them, benefitting the family, community and society. – Art: Roger “Rab” Moore, G-02296, HDSP Z-168, P.O. Box 3030, Susanville CA 96127

There is a chance coming up in the January-June session of the Delaware House of Representatives to restructure habitual offender sentencing. Senate Bill 188 would place application of habitual offender enhanced sentencing in the hands of judges.

Currently, power hungry and politically motivated district attorneys have misused the enhancement to further their careers. This egregious injustice has come at the expense of poor defendants, many of whom are Black or Latino. Trust, this ain’t applyin’ to no Du Ponts!

All prisoners labeled habitual offenders could petition for resentencing under Senate Bill 188, if it passes the General Assembly and survives a veto by Gov. Jack Markell.

Please voice your support of SB188 loud and clear! The only reason this bill came about was the obvious wrongs done by politically power hungry district attorneys. (I ain’t callin’ you out, Beau Biden!)

Contact House Speaker Pete Schwarzkopf and let him know:  Write to him at 411 Legislative Ave., Dover, DE 19901; phone 302-744-4351; or email Peter.Schwartzkopf@state.de.us.

We need to show solidarity! #DellaFreedom.

Please voice your support of SB188 loud and clear!
