It was very noble of celebrity Kim Kardashian to visit the White House to meet with President Trump and plead for a presidential pardon for the life of a Black grandmother held in federal prison for a life term. What was equally noble is that President Trump instantly signed the grandmother’s pardon and she was released from federal prison the next day!

What was more astonishing than that was that recently President Trump made a public statement to NFL players who took a knee for social justice in America for Black people during the national anthem at NFL games. Trump declared that he would give a presidential pardon and release any federal prisoner presented to him by a NFL player who may be innocent, unduly convicted or have an unjust sentence.

Man, the cojones of President Trump. What a bold move. A challenge to the NFL players even. Should NFL players accept President Trump’s challenge? Of course they should.

So what should NFL players who were protesting do? How about raising the stakes? You know, anteing up?

Trump declared that he would give a presidential pardon and release any federal prisoner presented to him by a NFL player who may be innocent, unduly convicted or have an unjust sentence.

Hey, you NFL players, here’s a suggestion: How about each NFL player who took a knee in protest could now adopt-a-federal-prisoner? Each player signs up for a federal prisoner to petition the president to pardon his sentence and be immediately released from federal prison.

They could begin with political prisoners like Dr. Mutulu Shakur, Leonard Peltier and even your very own juvenile lifer, Kerry “Shakaboona” Marshall from Philadelphia, Penn.

So, NFL players, adopt a federal prisoner for President Trump’s pardon. It might not end mass incarceration or stop Attorney General Jeff Beauregard Sessions from turning back the clock on social justice, but it surely would save some lives that otherwise would die in prison. Besides, it’s a win-win situation for NFL players and President Trump. What do you got to lose?
