Gabriel Clyde Powell

Gabriel Clyde Powell was born on May 14, 1978, at Saint Luke’s Hospital in San Francisco, California, to proud parents Edward Emile and Norean Marie Powell. He was the second of four children.

Gabriel accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age. He was baptized in the Sacramento River in Chico, California. He received his formal education in the San Francisco Unified School District.

Gabriel developed a lifelong love of sports and traveling on many vacations with his family and friends. As a child, he played basketball at Joseph Lee Recreation Center. He played basketball and baseball for Martin Luther King Middle School and football and basketball for Wilson High School. He was one of the best to play basketball – with that left hand – in San Francisco. He lived life to the fullest with no regrets!

In 2007, he began his career painting at A & B. Throughout his career, he also worked at George E. Masker, Inc., and Jerry Thompson & Sons Painting through District Council 16, Local 913.

He loved spending time with his family, laughing, and always wearing a smile on his face. He was a fun loving and caring person, devoted son, brother, father and friend, always thinking of others first. “To know him is to love him.”

Gabriel departed this life on Saturday, Jan. 12, 2019. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Samuel Powell and Annie Mae Leonard; maternal grandparents, Granderson Lee Jones and Martha Jones; his sister, Annie Marie Powell.

He leaves to cherish his memory his parents, Edward and Norean Powell; fiancee La’Rina White; his children, TyShae, Aniyah, Gabriella, Jaden, Gabriel Matthew (unborn child); brothers Michael and John Powell (Ignacia Powell); sister Kechette Walls; nephews Paris, Ke’Shawn, John Jr., Jamille, Ke’ion; nieces Ke’Shae, Janae, Jade; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and lifelong friends.
