Black-Rep-summer-camp-crowd-waits-for-kids-to-walk-red-carpet, Become a star at Black Rep’s Theatrical Day Camp, Culture Currents In Berkeley at the Black Repertory Group’s summer day camp, youth are instructed by our own professional theatrical performance staff. We also hand pick other professional performers to work with our youth. Our staff instruct in the arts as well as provide and monitor lunch and snack periods. Thousands attend our summer productions to see the children and youth perform.

The dynamic Ms. Faye Carol teaches her Music In The Community (MITC) at the Black Repertory Group (BRG) this summer. Ms. Faye is a Bay Area icon who, as a jazz and blues recording artist, receives international recognition. We are proud to announce our 11th consecutive year of the MITC-Black Rep Summer Day Camp of the Arts, where youth receive training in voice and singing as well as the history of African American music.

Famous Black Rep alumni who are already well known in film and on stage will be returning on several occasions during the summer.

We encourage you to enroll your youth and expose them to the experience on our stage and the electricity in the air during our summers here.

Here’s how it works

The summer day camp runs from June 20 through Aug. 16, 2011. Two weeks are spent in preparation, the | remaining weeks in performance.

Youth will perform up to 48 performances for up to 10,000 young theatergoers. In the third week we begin to perform up to three daily performances, Monday-Friday at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. and on occasion 3 p.m.

Black-Rep-summer-camp-class1, Become a star at Black Rep’s Theatrical Day Camp, Culture Currents Regular camp hours are 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Early drop-off is 7-9 a.m., late pick-up 3-6 p.m.

Cost ranges from $250-$750 for the entire program, with additional charges for early drop-off and late pick-up. Lunch and snacks are included in the cost.

We are also offering free lunch on site in conjunction with the City Of Berkeley. Come and enjoy lunch after the 10 a.m. show or before the 1 p.m. show throughout the summer camp. Come see a show and lunch is on us!
