May our Most High Divine Mother-Father Creator of and in All – and incredible Ancients and Ancestors from past millennia, yesteryears and, literally, yesterday – find you and (y)our extended Family thriving and in healing Spirit, Loving Every Life and seeking sacred MA’AT.
WE are honored to share this another offering from the unceded, occupied sacred home-lands of the OHLONE Indigenous nations (named oakland-san francisco california bay area by the genocidal and racist European/united capitalist prison terrorist states of america [ucptsa] enslavers, colonizing missionaries and gentry-killers, land-grabbers and gold-seeking settlers).
WE again encourage you to do your best to keep your immune system strong and practice proven safety measures, including wearing masks, as protection against the variety of viruses that are surging and threatening our health, futures and lives. For instance, WE share our sacred-most thoughts for the complete healing of our beloved Queen Mama Carroll Fife, Black Panther Cub, housing rights activist and my D-3 council member in OHLONE-oakland Amen. Honoring a few of our new Ancestors
WE pay tribute to several recent Spiritual transformations, including: Our beloved Baba Dr. JAMES TURNER – a protégé of greats like Dr. JOHN HENRIK CLARKE, Minister MALIK SHABAZZ aka MALCOLM X and others – and a key founder of Africana studies, especially in new york city and at Cornell University. In my REPARATIONS SASA! For Afrikans, the Indigenous, Women and Girls book (HOPE Publications 6248/2008), i carried a prominent photo of Dr. TURNER, with two of my other activist-scholars mentors, Ancestors Dr. MARY HOOVER of Stanford and Howard universities; as well as Baba Dr. and President IMARI ABUBAKARI OBADELE, co-founder of our Republic of New Afrika-PG, N’COBRA and a former long-held political prisoner. WE fondly acknowledge our high-school classmate and former member of the Black Panther Party, Queen Mama KAREN (COOK) JOHNSON. Amen. Asé. MARVIN “THE BLADE” FOSTER, an inspiring friend and incredible athlete who allowed me to follow in his fast footsteps as little league baseball stars, high-school city, regional, state and “all-american” track champions and on to the University of Kansas Jayhawks – from which he continued to excel making it briefly to the National Football League. Also, one of our incredible track and football coaches in high school, EUGENE BURGETTE. Amen. Asé. For DAVID MOBERG, a powerful journalist who covered the people’s struggles around the world, from the factory floors to the uprisings in the ghettos, for publications like In These Times over many decades. WE remember and pay tribute to WILLIAM FELTON “BILL” RUSSELL, possibly the greatest icon ever in amateur and professional team sports, as well as a human and equal rights defender. A true People’s Champion on and off the court. A west oaklander, McClymonds High and USF graduate, Mr. RUSSELL commanded R-E-S-P-E-C-T from everybody … all the time. Amen. Asé.
And, the incredible NICHELLE NICHOLS, who used her “Lt. Uhuru H” fame on the Star Trek tv show to inspire many, especially Afrikans, women and girls, to express not only our Black Genius, but to pursue careers in science, engineering, aeronautics and visionary explorations around our multi-verse. Twenty years ago … on the Third of September – that day WE will always remember (yes WE will). ‘Cause that was the day that our Baba graduated (to Ancestorhood) … Our Baba is the Family Stone. Sadly, Baba Dr. Mutulu Shakur – our beloved commUNITY leader, healer and freedom fighter – is extremely ill with cancer. He is the father of five biological children, an adoptive Sun – famed composer and actor TUPAC AMARU SHAKUR – as well as a grand-father. Baba Dr. Mutulu, now 72, has been encaged and tortured in federal pens since 1986, and has been denied parole nine times, most recently in January 2021. Condemnation
WE condemn the repressive ucptsa government and its f.b.i. attack on the African People’s Socialist Party (APSP), UHURU Movement as well as the European-American allies of the African People’s Solidarity Committee. Says Chairman Omali Yeshitela: “This is an attack on the right of Black people to struggle for our total liberation … both here and in Africa. We are not taking orders from Russians or anybody else.”

CONGRATS to Queen Mama Attorney Chenee Franklin Minor, outgoing Director of the city of oakland’s Rent Adjustment Program. i first met her decades ago when – while living in brooklyn and organizing in new york city’s five boroughs (as well as over in jersey) – she invited me as the then National Male Co-Chair of N’COBRA to speak to the Cornell University School of Law way over in ithaca.
SPECIAL NOTE: New Ancestor Dr. JAMES TURNER also helped facilitate my presentations and dialogue with the students, faculty and community. During our sharing, Chenee and i both learned that OHLONE/oakland had been our home and that i had worked on projects with her Grandfather, now ancestor, labor and human rights fighter JOSEPH JOHNSON. Let’s also applaud her on being appointed as a member of the u.s. Commission on Civil Rights, in 2021. WE are certain that Queen Mama Chenee will excel in her next and every endeavor that she pursues. Amen. Asé.

One of baseball’s greats – as a player, manager and talent scout – he was finally selected to that corporate apartheid sport’s “hall of fame” in cooperstown, new york. He also became friends with not only my parents in kansas city, mo, but with nearly every person he ever came in contact with.
