City College football has a total 30 conference championships, 16 northern conference championships, nine California state championships and 11 national championships. Since 1946 the Rams have had an appetite for success only measured in championship rings. This year is no different. Former student David Marshall has been a Rams fan since 1984. “Pretty much been coming to every game each year. Never missed a season. Might have missed a game but never a season,” Marshall proudly states.

“Right now I think each year, City’s team gets better. In the past the team has been very good. We’ve had several excellent players and teams. As far as I’m concerned, the players are stronger and faster.”

Currently the undefeated City College Rams are on a path of destruction, beating all opponents in their way by double digits. With a few 60 point blowout wins, it’s easy to see that greatness is more than a trend. It’s tradition. But just like any great football story, there is a team out there who is looking to ruin that tradition – again.

The current reigning champions, College of San Mateo Bulldogs, are also undefeated in conference play, averaging 62 points per game. Both teams are dominating every opponent they have faced. These two paths will collide for the last game of the season – and even a super fan like David Marshall understands this game will be one for the books. “I think CSM will give them a run for their money. CSM is a good team. They have always had a good team. I think as far as winning or losing, we’re just going to have to see.”

While fans and spectators anxiously wait for the showdown, starting Quarterback Dorin Hale is humbly as cool as a cucumber. Hale is currently averaging over 200 passing yards by HALF TIME, a stat the average good quarterback would need a whole game to make.

The Bay 6 conference Saturday, Nov. 11, at College of San Mateo will decide who is on top.

When asked what has his team running like a well oiled machine, Hale simply states it’s his team: “Honestly just practicing hard, Week in and week out. Our coaches have been dialing up some great plays. Our offensive line has been playing really hard. I haven’t been feeling much pressure, and we’ve been playing hard as a team in all facets.” Hale humbly answers. The kid from Discovery Bay is making noise in the City and knows he is at his loudest when his team is making noise with him.

Togetherness seems to be the culture for this dominant era of Rams Football. Recruiting coach for the Rams Vince Bordelon can be quoted saying: “We just love each other and it’s no place like City. It’s a great atmosphere and environment to play as a team.”

Saturday the Rams plan to carry that love for one another and desire to win to San Mateo for the last game of the season. This is set to be the game of the season with both teams looking to win in a dramatic fashion. When asked if Hale had any message for CSM, he simply said: “Be ready. It’s all about us this year. So be ready ‘cause we are coming.”

The same warning came from Coach Bordelon saying: “Be ready. It’s two top programs. Two top teams. It’s all about who will make fewer mistakes.” Will City College snatch back the crown that they have held for years or will CSM continue their reign. Winner will decide who is the best in the Bay 6 conference. We will find out Saturday, Nov. 11, at College of San Mateo!
