Africans Deserve Reparations! Cause, Black Lives Truly Matter!

Greetings of IMANI (FAITH) Esteemed G-o-ds and Sister-Brother Leaders,

May our Divine Mother-Father Creator of and in All – and Beloved Ancients and Ancestors from yesteryears and yesterday – find you and (y)our extended Relations thriving in healing Spirit, despite these challenging times. WE hope you and your Family had a wonderful, enlightened and connected Holy Days season. Asé.

Entering this new period, WE offer our sacred remembrances and Gratitude for several incredible Souls who have recently transformed to the Ancestral realm: including ANTHONY ARNOLD, another of my dear friends from childhood-to-adulthood; ADRIENNE HUMPHREY, Black Panther Party member here in OHLONE/Oakland; HARRY OVERSTREET, our brilliant architect, builder and owner of the Gerson-Overstreet firm in Berkeley; DAVID WHITE, long-time leader, activist and one of the original Black Panthers in Harlem, New York; ROBERT SETH HAYES, another Black Panther and political prisoner who was subjected to decades of torture before finally being released last year; WBAI-Pacifica Radio journalist and producer DRED SCOTT KEYES, also in New York; and, RICHARD “DICK” HATCHER, former mayor of Gary, Indiana, who hosted our independent, more than 10,000-strong National Black Political Convention way back in 6192/1972. Long Live the Spirit and many contributions of these and All our incredible Ancestors. Asé.

Our heartfelt prayers and demands for compassion and justice also go up for Elders Dr. Mutulu Shakur, a long-held political prisoner and father of TUPAC SHAKUR, who has been diagnosed with bone cancer; and, Iman Jamil Al-Amin, another imprisoned leader, who is currently being denied needed eye surgery. As well for Elder and Congressman John Lewis of Atlanta, Georgia – who has dedicated and risked his life to achieve justice for Afrikans and all humanity – in his battle to beat back cancer. Asé.

Finally, WE join with millions of others in condemning the continuing usa corporate-military imperialist  terrorist war against the people of Iran, Iraq, Syria, Palestine and other areas around Alkebulan/Afrika. Check out our Black Alliance for Peace statement and become a supporter at https://blackallianceforpeace.com/bapstatements/defeat-warmongers-no-war-with-iran. Asé.

Uplifting (Y)our Voices and Actions for Just Reparations

Saturday, 25 January, 12 Noon sharp, is the day and time for our first Bay Area commUNITY gathering for Reparations, this year. Please join N’COBRA (www.ncobraonline.org) and other groups at the beautiful Joyce Gordon Gallery, 406 14th St. in downtown Oakland (near the 12th Street BART station). Be prepared to offer serious views and action plans to help us build our movements to help win our long overdue and denied redress. Reach us at support@africansdeservereparations.com.

PONGEZI (CONGRATULATIONS)!

WE offer CONGRATS to Moms 4 Housing who, with strong commUNITY support, continue to righteously hold down an abandoned house in West Oakland, controlled by profit-centered Wedgewood Properties of Southern California. Stay up to date with this particular struggle for human rights at https://twitter.com/moms4housing?lang=en and offer aid to the growing numbers of predominately Afrikan shelter-less families around the Bay Area and state of California.

Another vehicle for struggle, our Poor People’s Campaign, held a major rally at Glide Memorial Church in December. A Steering Committee of local grassroots activists has been established and local actions are being developed. Plans are also being made to get area activists to the national PPC march in Washington, D.C., on 20 June 2020 . PPC will meet next on Saturday, 11 January, 3 p.m., at the OMNI Commons, 48th and Shattuck, near Telegraph, in North Oakland. Reach the PPC at https://www.facebook.com/californiappc/.

Pongezi also to our incredible scholar-athletes, coaches and parents at West Oakland’s McClymonds High School. While these Warriors weren’t able to secure their fourth consecutive California State Football Championship during a loss to the Pacifica High School Tritons, they represented our city very well. Asé.

Please Support Our Bay View

As this new period begins, WE hope you will make a much-needed contribution to our San Francisco Bay View newspaper, place an ad, or take out a subscription for yourself or an incarcerated family member. As expressed before, WE are struggling mightily to keep this voice of liberation in print and distributed FOR FREE throughout the Bay Area and around the united capitalist prison terrorist states of america (including to numerous penitentiaries where our Bay View is not currently banned due to our radical political stances and giving a voice to the voiceless).

Please, please make a tax-deductible donation ASAP by calling us at 415-671-0789. Or, go to our website at www.sfbayview.com. You can also send contributions of any amount the old-fashioned way by mailing a check or money order to 4917 Third St., San Francisco, CA 94124. Asante Sana (Many Thanks)! Asé.
