Today, San Francisco District Attorney Chesa Boudin and Supervisor Shamann Walton announced a resolution motivated by the murder of George Floyd to protect the public and particularly people of color from police misconduct. The resolution urges the San Francisco Civil Service Commission to prohibit the San Francisco Police Department and San Francisco Sheriff’s Department from hiring officers with a known history of serious police misconduct. Supervisors Hillary Ronen, Aaron Peskin, Matt Haney, Dean Preston, Sandra Lee Fewer and Norman Yee are cosponsors of the resolution.

State Sen. Scott Wiener’s re-election website recently posted a Green New Deal pledge, including a vow not to accept contributions over $200 from oil, gas and coal industry executives, lobbyists or PACs. However, according to filing reports with the California Secretary of State’s office, Wiener has accepted over $23,000 in campaign contributions above $200 from the fossil fuel industry, including corporations such as PG&E, Southern California Edison, Calpine Corp., and Sempra Energy. An independent expenditure supporting Scott Wiener has also accepted $170,000 in donations from fossil fuel corporations including Chevron, Southern California Edison and Sempra Energy.

Why destroy Parkmerced?

Parkmerced is one of the last affordable neighborhoods in San Francisco. It’s sad to see such a beautiful neighborhood demolished due to capitalist greed, but this is what the feature holds for Parkmerced if tenants don’t fight to stop this project.
