San Quentin on trial for 29 COVID-19 deaths under its watch

Over 300 habeas corpus petitions put San Quentin and CDCr on trial charged with 'cruel and unusual punishment' by deliberate indifference resulting in 29 preventable COVID-19 deaths, record infections, unbearable fear and anxiety, with grave and unnecessary risk to staff and community.

Houston needs a civilian review board – but Texas needs much...

For the past four years, community activists and civil rights leaders in the Houston area have been fighting hard to establish a civilian review board with prosecutorial power over local police. The board would oversee the activities of a Houston Police Department (HPD) which has had a “love affair” with the use of excessive and lethal force on Houstonians. The problem with HPD is much larger than it appears and affects everyone in Houston.

China chides U.S. on rights record

The Chinese government responded March 12 to the release of a U.S. human rights report critical of China by issuing its own report criticizing the U.S. human rights record. The report covered issues relating to crime, racial discrimination and poverty and accused the U.S. of using its hegemonic power to continue “trampling” on the sovereignty of other countries while “posing as the world judge of human rights.”
