For some time now we have been working very closely with the Congolese Solidarity Campaign. We have been working to build a politic from below that accepts each person as a person and each comrade as a comrade without regard to where they were born or what language they speak. In this struggle we have faced constant attack from the state, the ruling party and others.

We, the undersigned, representing the Africa Emergency Technology Response Forum (AETRF), an informal network of African technology professionals engaged in the Ebola crisis response on the continent and in the diaspora, herein convey our concern about the current Ebola virus disease outbreak and call for more concerted efforts to bring robust technological responses to the crisis.

One may reasonably argue that Rwanda, Uganda and any of those poor African countries contributing U.N. peacekeepers have no interest in peace around the continent. Based on the current financing structure of U.N. peacekeeping operations, these poor countries have a lot of financial incentives to create instability within Africa so that they can send in their “peacekeeping” troops and make some much needed cash.
