IMANI (FAITH) Esteemed G-o-ds and Sister-Brother Leaders,
May our Divine Mother-Father Creator of and in All – and beloved Ancients and Ancestors from yesteryears and yesterday – find you and (y)our extended Family thriving in healing Spirit.
WEmembering and honoring our new Ancestors, including: COLTRANE CHIMURENGA, revolutionary, Pan Africanist and Field Marshal of the New York-based December 12th Movement (view more on his life from New York Amsterdam News at http://amsterdamnews.com/news/2019/may/23/december-12th-movement-pays-homage-comrade-coltran/?page=1); JOHN SINGLETON, our incredible griot, writer, director and filmmaker in Los Angeles; Rev. KWAME JOHN PORTER, a colleague of Rev. M.L. KING JR. and a co-founder of Operation PU$H with Rev. Jesse Jackson Sr. in Chicago; and CHARLES “CHUCK” BARKSDALE, bass singer for one of my favorite groups, the Mighty Dells, in south suburban Chicago. May their lives and contributions continue to be an inspiration to All. Asé.
Tragically, several more innocent persons have been murdered by U.S. white police terrorism. There have been, as usual, no consequences for the kkkillers. Except for, check-this-out, an Afrikan cop in Minnesota who shot a white woman from Australia. That is why WE must repeat over and over and over again … BLACKS LIVES MATTER! And, honor our Deacons for Defense and other revolutionaries who profoundly articulate “WE WILL SHOOT BACK!” Asé.
WE mourn the increasing destruction of life and our environment around these occupied Indigenous lands as well as Big Mama Earth. Thousands of people are losing their lives and livelihoods around our planet – from Mozambique to Missouri – due to intense storms, record wind speeds and massive flooding in areas that should not have been developed and other catastrophes caused by the corporate-for-profit-accelerated climate chaos. And, please don’t laugh. Some of us are also grieving the destruction of other species, including our sacred forests, animal life and sea creatures.
For example, 12 large whales have recently washed up on our local OHLONE (Bay Area) shores. Number nine came ashore at San Francisco’s Ocean Beach. Its death is either the result of higher oceanic temperatures – that is causing massive fluctuations in regular migration patterns and the natural food chain – or increased commercialism on the seas. In other words, whales like this one may have been tragically struck by one of many giant container vessels transporting commodities-for-sale around our globe.
A contributing factor is the Fukushima nuclear power plant meltdowns that began with an earthquake in Japan on March 11, 2011. “More than 400 tons of radioactive water have been flowing into the Pacific every day since the meltdowns began,” a story recently published in the Bay View reports, causing die-offs of marine life around the planet. Regardless of the particular cause, our task as current stewards of this sacred planet is to work for visionary multi-generational policies and sustainable practices that see beyond the immediate “gratification” of this moment of our lives. Bring Our Elders Home Now!!!
Our movements are celebrating the recent release of our beloved Goddesses of Peace, Janine and Janet Africa of the MOVE Organization, based in Philadelphia. These incredible Daughters, Mothers, Grand-Mothers, Healers and Freedom Fighters were forced to endure more than 40 YEARS OF TORTURE in Pennsylvania prisons! For crimes they did not commit! I repeat: FOR CRIMES THEY DID NOT COMMIT!
Yes, WE are thrilled to have Janet and Janine rejoin their families – as well as others who were recently “let go” by the government enslavers such as Michael Africa and Debbie Africa, Herman Bell, Sekou Odinga, Robert Seth Hayes. However, dozens of others remain under brutal lock-down, victims of the U.S. and local government’s admitted repressive COINTELPRO to destroy Black leadership and organizations like our Black Panther Party, Republic of New Afrika and American Indian Movement.
Many are suffering, after MULTIPLE DECADES OF TORTUROUS CONFINEMENT, from potentially life-threatening ailments and abuse. Many of you know the names of these Elders, Grand-Fathers, Grand-Mothers, Independent Political Theorists and Freedom Fighters: Baba Jalil Muntaqim (European enslavement name Anthony Bottom), Baba Veronza Bowers, Dr. Mutulu Shakur (Father of Ancestor TUPAC SHAKUR), Baba Romaine “Chip” Fitzgerald, Mama Assata Shakur, Iman Jamil Al Amil (fka H. “Rap” Brown), Russell Maroon Shoatz, Elder Leonard Peltier, Baba Sundiata Acoli, Abdul Azeez, Charles Africa, Delbert Africa, Eddie Africa, Ruchelle Magee and so many others.
WE need your support NOW in demanding the release of these long-time warriors. They’ve already suffered for far too long! Please join up with our Jericho Amnesty Movement and others standing up for these human rights veterans. Urgent Appeal to Our Readers
WE are so appreciative to those of you who has made a much-needed contribution to our San Francisco Bay View newspaper, placed an ad, or taken a subscription for yourself or an incarcerated family member. However, WE are still struggling to keep this liberation newspaper in print and distributed FOR FREE throughout the Bay Area and around the U.S. – including to numerous prisons where WE are not currently banned due to our radical political stances and giving voice to the voiceless. Please, please make a tax-deductible donation ASAP by calling us at (415) 671-0789; or, go to our website at www.sfbayview.com. You can also send contributions the old-fashioned way by mailing to 4917 Third St., San Francisco, CA 94124. Asé.
