The U.S. Reparations Debt to Afrikan, New Afrikan and Black People is past due and should be tendered immediately in all forms requested and known by humans to be essential to live a full, safe and healthy life.

The Black Student Union at USF demands that the administrators expel student haters and step up in ethical and moral ways to protect their Black students. Institutional protocols and policies in place do not provide what’s necessary to intentionally provide a safe place to study, learn, explore, grow or live without fear. It’s a failure, and a clear and present danger.

Undeniably qualified and supported, Assemblymember Dr. Shirley N. Weber accepted Gov. Newsom’s nomination to be the first African American woman California Secretary of State. Also heard are prominent voices from the Black community who expressed disappointment at Vice President-Elect Kamala Harris’ seat not being filled by either one of two most probable Black women, each highly qualified to continue the work and maintain a woman’s place in the Senate.

In light of what occurred in Orlando, Florida, and other mass shootings, it comes as no surprise to any of us that the political establishment wants and encourages us to think of madness like this within the narrow context of gun control – taking guns out of the hands of criminals. But, the question must now be asked of the larger community: Why are we so unwilling to view and struggle around what these acts really are – hate!

For true self-determination, we must each play our part. If you are not a member of the NAACP, consider becoming one. If you are already a member, resolve to serve as a volunteer, if not an officer or committee member. Attend a meeting and bring a friend or family member. Not a joiner? Donate to fund initiatives. Do your part to support an organization that has sustained us and defended us for so long.

Protests and raised fists have come to life to San Jose State University. For those who have not heard, three white students at San Jose State University have been charged with hate crimes – and a fourth has been suspended – after their African-American roommate was subjected to a series of racist torments that have shocked the entire community.

Correctional Officer White openly admitted he was an “alleged ex-member of the Klu Klux Klan” and on May 5, 2012, intentionally made racial statements: Officer White was asked, “Why did you tell us that you’re KKK? You must still be with that racist shit?” White walked up to the door of cell 421 stating in a hostile manner, “You know you’s a nigger.”

Three days after Hurricane Katrina turned New Orleans into a ghost town, somebody shot Donnell Herrington twice in Algiers Point, ripping a hole in his throat. Herrington, who is African-American, says he was ambushed by a group of armed white men who attacked without warning or provocation.

The Chinese government responded March 12 to the release of a U.S. human rights report critical of China by issuing its own report criticizing the U.S. human rights record. The report covered issues relating to crime, racial discrimination and poverty and accused the U.S. of using its hegemonic power to continue “trampling” on the sovereignty of other countries while “posing as the world judge of human rights.”
