AshEl is a food-based activist who has been heightening consciousness for years in the Bay about what we put in our bodies. We have to use everything that we have to inform and educate our people about how our body works – young people especially. I salute AshEl on his valiant quest to keep us in the know about how these corporations are trying to kill us from the inside out.
Corporate millions, deceptive ads only narrowly shut down Prop 37, GE food labeling

In the face of unrelenting deceptive advertising funded by giant chemical and processed food corporations to the tune of nearly $50 million, California’s Proposition 37, calling for a simple label on genetically engineered food, narrowly lost with 47 percent of the vote. We will continue to build a robust national grassroots campaign to push for mandatory labeling across the country.
Hurricane Survival

From Philly to New Jersey, from the South Bronx to Haiti, us po’ folks don’t need Hurricane Sandy to have a crisis, ‘cause we already in Hurricane Survival. Between gentriFUKation, removal, violence, poverty and struggle just to be housed and clothed and fed and safe, the crisis called Sandy is just one more thing to deal with in an already impossible situation.

Voting empowers our communities to get what we want. If we don’t vote, we’re invisible. If we turn out in large numbers for this election, we’ll get respect – from City Hall to the White House. On state propositions, the Bay View recommends that you vote Yes on 30, No on 31 (LAST MINUTE CHANGE), No on 32, No on 33, No on 34, No on 35, Yes on 36, Yes on 37, Yes on 38, Yes on 39 and Yes on 40. But however you vote, VOTE! Voting is our most powerful right. Use it.
Prop 37: We deserve to know what’s in our food

We Californians have a tremendous opportunity this Nov. 6. We can be the first state in the country that requires food companies to label foods that contain genetically engineered ingredients, also called GMOs. If you think we deserve this information, please vote yes on Proposition 37.
