Running Green in D13: Tax the rich and stop the wars

In California’s top-two primary system, only the top two vote getters advance to the general election, meaning that only two names will be on the ballot for each race in November. Since California is a very blue state, that often means that two Democrats advance. However, three Green Party candidates for the U.S. Congress advanced in California races this year. Among them is Laura Wells, whose name will appear alongside that of incumbent Barbara Lee in the East Bay’s District 13 race.

Women’s March on the Pentagon: Confronting the bipartisan war machine

Cindy Sheehan: I’m beginning to organize a Women’s March on the Pentagon because since 2007, when Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats regained a majority in the House of Representatives, there has been an incomprehensible absence of protesting the USA’s wars and empire. After Obama took over as president, the antiwar movement all but died. Many of us think that one cannot separate the global emancipation of women or the destruction of our planet from the issue of war.

Cynthia McKinney on autism and Ferguson

While people were righteously rebelling in the streets of Ferguson, Missouri, against police terrorism, a Center for Disease Control whistleblower confirmed something that has been on the lips of conscious ghetto dwellers for decades. International peace activist Cynthia McKinney speaks on the U.S. government spreading autism through vaccinations in the Black community, on Ferguson and much more.

Anatomy of a murder: How NATO killed Qaddafi family members

I visited the residence of the Qaddafi family, bombed to smithereens by NATO. For a leader, the house seemed small in comparison, say, to the former Clinton family home in Chappaqua or the Obama family home. It was a small house in a typical residential area in Tripoli, surrounded by dozens of other family homes.

‘Lennar is messing with the wrong community’

Davey D interviews Minister Christopher Muhammad, leader of the Stop Lennar Action Movement, on Hard Knock Radio about Lennar's latest mischief-making. Tell the SF Board of Supervisors to tell Lennar 'No guns at community meetings' Tuesday, April 20, 2 p.m., SF City Hall Room 250. Pack the Supervisors' Chambers as they vote on a resolution condemning Lennar.

Last rites for the USA

The founders of the U.S. did not like corporations and for the first few decades of the existence of this nation, corporations were only given limited “privileges” and not “rights.” But after the 14th Amendment to the Constitution was ratified in 1868 – which extended equal protection under the law to all male citizens of the U.S regardless of race – attorneys for the corporations recognized the opportunity that had been gifted to them and started to scheme for corporate personhood.

We have the moral high ground

I remember back in the good ol’ days of 2005 and 2006 when being against the wars was not only politically correct, but it was very popular. Those were the halcyon days of the anti-war movement before the Democrats took over the government – off of the backs of the anti-war movement – and it became anathema to be against the wars and I became unpopular on all sides.

‘Good riddance, you dog’

Standing next to his puppet, Maliki, George actually had the gall to say that the invasion and occupation of Iraq were "hard, but necessary." I am surprised he wasn't deluged with shoes.

Cynthia McKinney and Cindy Sheehan report from human rights conference in...

We celebrate 60 years of failure. Human rights have been converted from a noble goal into an instrument of foreign policy used by rich and powerful nations against the poorest and weakest people of the world.

Hey, Hey, Nancy!

"If we want to take this country back, Nancy Pelosi's got to go. Hey, hey, Nancy, I sure hope Cindy kicks your ass!"...

Bringing democracy to Amerikkka

With Black youth on the front lines this election season, along with all youth plus older Blacks and other people of color, the struggle for real democracy can finally claim victory in the U.S. Masses of new voters have registered and are already lining up to vote wherever early voting is available, as it is here in the Bay Area.

And don't stop after Nov. 4. That's when our organizing, our pushing, our demands will win liberty and justice for us and our precious children.

Cindy Sheehan’s progressive response to the financial crisis

I believe healthcare, housing and education are basic human rights, not privileges. Nancy Pelosi, my opponent, can come up with $850 billion when her buddies need it; now, my buddies, THE PEOPLE, need a bailout!

Cindy Sheehan speaks at Bayview Hunters Point Town Hall Meeting

Peace mom Cindy Sheehan, who has traveled the world speaking out for peace with justice, spoke to a full house of grassroots activists at the Oct. 2 Bayview Hunters Point Town Hall Meeting about her campaign to replace Nancy Pelosi in the U.S. Congress Nov. 4.

Cindy Sheehan is on the ballot!

The Cindy Sheehan campaign to replace Nancy Pelosi in Congress is offering a new vision for San Francisco and the nation. Cindy believes in peace, accountability, freedom and well being for all. She believes that war should be a last resort for defense and not the handy policy tool that it is currently being used as. She believes that healthcare is a basic right in a democratic society and should not be based on ability to pay.
